About

A personal mission to make mathematics accessible to everyone

Mission

MathForHumans exists because math need not be intimidating. Too many people have been convinced that mathematics is only for “math people” — this site is here to prove that wrong.

The Philosophy

Smaller Chunks

Traditional textbooks often present concepts in large, overwhelming blocks. Here, everything is broken down into smaller, digestible chunks so you can learn a concept and apply it right away.

Realistic Examples

Abstract problems divorced from reality don’t help anyone learn. Every concept on MathForHumans is illustrated with examples from everyday life — from budgeting to cooking to home improvement.

Gradual Difficulty

Have you ever worked through “easy” textbook examples only to find the homework problems impossibly hard? The problems here progress smoothly from introductory to challenging, building your confidence along the way.

Self-Test Problems

Each topic includes practice problems with solutions so you can check your understanding before moving on.

Who I Am

MathForHumans is a personal project by Andrew D. Anderson. I believe that mathematical literacy is a fundamental skill that everyone deserves access to. I’m committed to creating resources that are:

  • Free — Mathematics education shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls
  • Accessible — Written in plain language without unnecessary jargon
  • Practical — Focused on skills you’ll actually use
